Maya Elphick is a creative and activist from Norfolk, UK. In 2019, her debut collection of poetry White Moth was published by U.S. Publishing House A.B.Baird. Her work has also been featured in six further anthologies ranging from conversation around mental health awareness to climate change and sustainability.

Maya’s work in youth activism began during the rise of the school climate strikes in 2018. Since then, she has written in collaboration with various campaigns and organisations, such as Youth Strike 4 Climate, the Youth Advisory Board, Young Activist Network and the Norfolk and Norwich Festival, with the aim of promoting the work of local youth engagement and activism. Maya is also one of the directors of Girl Up Norwich, a local branch of the global organisation run by the United Nations Foundation, which supports and empowers young women worldwide.

From 2019 to 2021, Maya also worked as a producer, panellist and resident poet on BBC Radio Norfolk’s evening show The Social.

Maya is currently studying English Literature with Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia.
